We at You Press, a social enterprise supporting and engaging young people in the creative arts, are looking for writers, editors, graphic illustrators and website developers for our new project, ScribersHive, a unique platform aiming to connect young people to social issues, topics, stories and debates that matter to them. With high voter turnout among under 25s, the uncertainty of Brexit, and high profile debates around austerity, this is an invaluable space designed by and for young people to sustain and extend current debates.
Our ethos is about creating community cohesion, and a greater understanding of young people’s thoughts and opinions. We are contacting you to ask if you would consider forwarding this opportunity to your students, preferably in the form of the following job descriptions:
Website Developers (f/m):
We are looking for website developers who will be to work with our team to design & manage our new website for ScribersHive. Working hours are flexible given that work can be done from home, but we would expect at least 2 days in the office to maintain good communication with you.
Graphic Illustrators /Animators (f/m):
We are looking for graphic illustrators/animators to bring our articles to life on our new web platform, ScribersHive, who respond and take inspiration from our written articles through artwork and illustration. Preferably, applicants should be comfortable with Photoshop or another graphic design software, and experience with animation is preferable, though not essential. Working hours are flexible given that work can be done from home, but we would expect at least 2 days in the office to maintain good communication with you.
Writers (f/m):
We are looking for engaged individuals to write narrative articles, often based on their own interests and experiences. We prioritise passion over experience, so whether a seasoned writer or someone who is trying something new, we want to hear from you, and we have editors and assistants who can aid your writing process and edit your work. We would expect at least one day a week in the office to maintain contact and communication, but our working hours are flexible as writers can largely write and submit articles from home.
Editors (f/m):
We are looking for organised, engaged and passionate individuals to edit thematic sections of the ScribersHive. This would involve developing a section for articles based on a theme of your choice, collaborating with our writers to develop it, and editing articles submitted. We would expect at least two days a week in the office to ensure effective collaboration, but working hours are flexible and negotiable given work can be done from home.
If you would like further details regarding You Press as an organisation, and the ScribersHive project, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to hearing from you.
