Psychosocial Therapist/Informal Education Specialist
Contract type: 50%-75%
Duration: 6 months with option to extend
This position is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience in working with a professional humanitarian aid organization with 16 years of experience in the field of emergency and trauma. This is a chance to be part of a leading team of IsraAID Germany e.V. therapists offering relief and psychosocial services to refugees.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
IsraAID’s PSS therapists will work according to an intervention module that was created with flexibility as a key factor.
- Planning: Working together with IsraAID’s Country Director and IsraAID’s PSS professional adviser to structure a work plan according to the organization’s defined vision and goals.
- Implementing: Leading psychosocial therapeutic processes in refugee shelters with: Individuals, Groups, Shelters’ staff
- Reporting: Collecting information and data from the field and activities and report to the field manager on a weekly basis – using the appropriate reporting tools.
- Meetings: Joining team meetings in IsraAID Germany’s offices and in the refugee shelters.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES
- Education and professional background: social workers, art therapists, psychologists, informal education.
- Proven ability to work independently in a changing and challenging environment.
- High interpersonal skills; open-minded individual, culturally-sensitive, friendly, flexible, adaptable, high ability for team work and lots of patience in a changing environment and needs.
- Advantage: experience working with refugees, working in the field of trauma, experience in group facilitation.
- IT literate (Microsoft and finance packages).
LANGUAGES
Required: Native speaker in Arabic and good level of Hebrew.
Advantage: German, Farsi.
