swisspeace is a practice-oriented peace research institute. It analyses the causes of violent conflicts and develops strategies for their peaceful transformation. swisspeace contributes to the improvement of conflict prevention and conflict transformation by producing innovative research, shaping discourses on international peace policy, developing and applying new peacebuilding tools and methodologies, supporting and advising other peace actors, as well as by providing and facilitating spaces for analysis, discussion, critical reflection and learning.
In order to support its Mediation Program, swisspeace is looking for an
Intern (80-100%)
For 6 months, starting date: 1 July 2016 (or by agreement).
Your tasks:
- Supporting swisspeace’s work on Syria
- Supporting swisspeace’s work on Myanmar
- Conducting research and developing activities on gender and mediation
- Contributing to swisspeace activities in the framework of the Mediation Support Project
- Contributing to mediation training courses run by swisspeace
- Drafting and editing reports
- Supporting the organization and coordination of events
- Providing administrative and logistical support to the swisspeace Mediation Program
Your profile:
- Bachelor degree (or higher)
- Excellent spoken and written English, German, French or Arabic are assets
- Knowledge of Myanmar or Syria is an asset
- Good research and drafting skills
- Affinity for coordination and administrative tasks
- Organizational talent, ability to work independently
- Availability to travel
