Communications Campaign Manager
£39,000 – £42,000 pro rata, 3 days per week, 21 hours p/w

This is an exciting time to join the communications team at Arthritis Research UK. At the beginning of November, Arthritis Research UK merged with Arthritis Care, to form a new charity, which allows us to strengthen the services and support we offer to the millions of people who are living with arthritis in the UK. The communications team is ambitious and in August 2017 we launched a nation-wide campaign to change national perceptions of arthritis, with further high-profile campaigns planned for 2018.
At Arthritis Research UK, we believe that a strong communications team is one of the main foundations for helping us to deliver real change for people with arthritis. We are looking for another member to join our communications management team as a Communications Campaign manager in a job share partnership.
About the role
- Plan, develop and deliver integrated and audience-targeted communication campaigns
- Provide senior communications consultancy to other teams in the charity, such as policy and public affairs and the research team
- Project manage integrated projects, which involves working with different teams from across the organisation
- Responsible for developing and mentoring communications team members, with line management responsibility
- Taking an active role in the communications managers’ team – managing resource, being proactive in making suggestions for improving processes and professional development
Key requirements
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about working for causes that you believe in, making a real difference through delivering excellent communications
- Experienced in planning for, developing and delivering communication campaigns, which generate impact and meet KPIs set
- Able to inspire and motivate team members to work hard and deliver excellent work for you, with experience of delivering constructive feedback on early drafts
- Experienced at providing communications advice and consultancy to teams across the charity (e.g. fundraising, policy and corporate partnerships), helping them to use communications to meet their objectives
- Strong background in working with the media and knowledge of what news stories and pitches generate coverage
- Someone who loves working in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving skills and open to opportunities to change and improve
- Committed to making a job-share work. You recognise your and others’ strengths and weaknesses, and know how to build on them to create a productive and effective team.
