GSG was established in August 2015 as the successor to the G8 Social Impact Investment Taskforce. It is incorporated as a British not-for-profit, dedicated to catalysing a global impact investment market. There are presently 15 member countries plus the EU, as well as active observers from government and leading network organisations supportive of impact investment. Chaired by Sir Ronald Cohen, the GSG brings together leaders from the worlds of finance, business and philanthropy across the globe. Its mission is to harness the energy behind impact investment to spark a movement around the world, so that it reaches “tipping point” by 2020.

Programme Manager
Full-time, 3 year contract, competitive salary based on experience and industry norms, located in London, UK
About the Role
The role of the Programme Manager is to support the Leadership Team of the GSG, soon to be comprised of a CEO, a Director of Market Development, a Director of Communications, a Director of Research and Knowledge Development and a Director of Fundraising as well as the Chair in executing programs and delivering the GSG’s mission and strategy.
Market Development
- Support with the development of National Advisory Boards (NABs) in new countries
- This work can include the development of new tools relevant for key national stakeholders (e.g.: Policy making toolkit, NAB “How To” Handbook, etc.)
Communications and Community Building - support managing and executing the following communication assets and channels:
- Branding
- Website
- Social Media
- Networking Platform
- Press Relations
- Events (incl. global Annual Summit)
- Campaigns
Research and Knowledge Management
- Provide support to research and knowledge development projects.
- This work can include being involved in the coordination of several special “GSG Working Groups”, setup with experts from within the GSG network, to brainstorm, research and publish key insights, evolving trends and industry-shaping recommendations for all Impact Investing stakeholders.
Fundraising
- Support the fundraising process, especially for the establishment of new Outcomes Funds.
- This work can include writing concept notes, proposals and managing key contacts.
Team Support
- Help in coordinating the team and build efficiency within the GSG Leadership team (e.g. support internal communications, create back office processes, launch team work platforms e.g. Slack, etc.)
Direct Support to the Chair of the GSG
- Assist the Chair in preparing for his high-level meetings (often Senior Business Leaders) aimed at identifying and evaluating new opportunities and initiatives for the movement
- Assist the Chair in his Speaking Engagements and his Press
- Briefings and Interviews
- Play an internal communications role within the GSG Team, disseminating thoughts and messages from the Chairman to the GSG Leadership Team
Education and Experience Requirements
- 7+ years’ work experience ideally most of which in field of impact investment and/or social entrepreneurship
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple stakeholders and projects in parallel and on an international scale
- Ability to coordinate with virtual teams from across geographies (e.g. comprised of high-level experts volunteering their time)
- Master’s degree preferable; Bachelor level university degree essential
Essential Qualities:
- Ability to work in a start-up environment with limited resources
- Result oriented overachiever excited by ambitious goals
- Both strategic and hands-on
- Strong team spirit with an ability to build and be part of a high performing team working across geographies in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally
- Have the right to work in the UK
