Job Description
Lead cultivation, relationship building & pitching:
The Ashoka UK team has a successful track record in securing and building long term, mutually beneficial and strategic relationships with companies and foundations. We work in collaboration with companies across a range of activities; some of our recent partnerships include the Big Lottery Fund, UBS and Rothschild & Co. The successful candidate will help to build, deliver and develop a range of high quality corporate partnerships – up to seven figures - to generate income for Ashoka UK and Ashoka activities internationally.
Major Donors & The Ashoka Support Network:
The successful candidate will be the point of contact for our network of approximately 40 major donors which we call the Ashoka Support Network (ASN). They are a group of business leaders and philanthropists who support Ashoka financially but also lend their skills and expertise to the Ashoka Fellows.
Prospect Cultivation:
The Manager will be responsible for ASN prospect cultivation and recruitment. This includes developing relationships and meeting with new prospective donors to discuss Ashoka’s work and their possible involvement with the network. The successful candidate will build on existing relationships to generate new leads and mobilise new introductions.
Stewardship & Engagement:
The successful candidate will manage all existing ASN relationships by implementing donor care and stewardship activities to make the ASN experience one of high impact. This will include, but not be limited to, working with the Fellowship team to identifying where ASN can help with the Fellows’ strategic needs, making carefully considered introductions, and organising community events.
Project Management:
The successful candidate will lead on all partnership programmatic and project management activities. They will have to account manage strategic, corporate partnerships to ensure they meet their objectives and financial targets, exploring and developing any additional added value opportunities which further benefit Ashoka. This role will deliver a mix of accounts, including national, and multi-country partnerships and will establish support systems and best practice to ensure that high quality account management is delivered to the donor (corporate or foundation).
The Manager will lead the team delivering planned partnership activity, communication and reporting in a timely and professional fashion. They will liaise regularly with relevant Ashoka internal teams to ensure partnership objectives are achieved. The Manager will also ensure income and activity is recorded. The Manager is also expected to contribute to the wider the wider corporate fundraising strategy, together with the UK Co-Directors.
Skills & Experience:
- A proven track record working in corporate or major donor fundraising or relevant experience/ transferable skills gained in a similar field such as sales, marketing or Corporate Social Responsibility
- Creativity in developing ideas to support fundraising and programmatic initiatives
- Experience developing business plans and budget management
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral – and the social skills and presence to communicate to a variety of audiences
- Proven ability to form positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Highly developed ability to verbally present information about projects and fundraising activities to a range of audiences in an inspiring and confident way
- Highly developed written communication skills that result in the production of clear and persuasive proposals and reports
- Experience of planning and managing complex
