Integration Project Coordinator 
Open to Internal and External CandidatesClassification: PU, 
Type of Appointment: Fixed Term, One Year

Context:

Under the programmatic supervision of the Family Assistance Program (FAP) Project Manager and the administration supervision of the Chief of Mission, the successful candidate will be based in Istanbul, Turkey and will be accountable and responsible for the implementation of integration related activities for Syrians accepted for family reunification under a Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) family reunification programs prior to their arrival in Germany.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver 2-day pre-departure, integration sessions and provide day-to-day management and supervision of all integration class related activities, including training and technical assistance.
  1. Supervise and oversee all local integration staff, ensuring that classroom activities are completed in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with FAP guidelines.
  1. Report regularly on all integration related activities to IOM FAP management and the donor
  1. Oversee the scheduling of all qualified persons for integration activities including integration sessions to ensure maximum attendance.
  1. Assist in curriculum review and revision with relevant thematic experts, programme managers, etc. Procure all necessary supplies and coordinate administrative/finance needs of the FAP Integration team.
  1. Oversee recruitment, selection and ongoing training of new FAP integration staff, overseeing performance evaluations for staff.
  1. Observe and provide constructive feedback to trainers on a regular basis.
  1. Guide the development of instructional materials for all FAP integration classes and develop and periodically update integration curricula in coordination with the Migrant Training and Integration Specialist based in Geneva.
  1. Conduct staff training on relevant teaching methodology, and provide curriculum updates.
  1. Submit quarterly reports and statistics on all FAP integration-related activities.  
  1. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with staff members within the FAP and with external counterparts involved with the processing of this caseload.
  1. Represent the FAP at various workshops and trainings, including delivering presentations on FAP integration-related activities.
  1. Maintain and ensure confidentiality of all FAP-related matters, in accordance with guidelines and instructions.
  1. Take active steps to mitigate fraud and malfeasance, and to monitor the integrity of records containing individual data.
  1. Alert the FAP Manager of any non-compliance of staff under direct supervision and suggest possible improvements in order to properly support the overall running of the program.
  1. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Completed advanced university degree in an accredited academic institution preferably in Education, Training, Social Services and/ or alternatively, an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience;

Experience

  • Five years’ experience providing integration related orientation, training or settlement services to new arrivals;
  • Experience in the field of education required specifically in relation to curriculum design, direct teaching and teacher training;
  • Experience in project development, implementation and evaluation, and/or programme implementation and management;
  • Proven curriculum development and good writing skills;
  • Good communications skills, with demonstrated ability to speak with authority on settlement realities within the German context;
  • Well-versed in integration challenges for Syrians settled in Germany;
  • Competencies should include good communication ability, cross-cultural sensitivity, organizational capacity and ability to handle challenging situations;
  • Experience managing and delivering an integration program in Germany for Syrians is highly preferred.

Languages

Fluency in English and German is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is highly preferred.

Other

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and is granted the necessary visa authorization by the concerned Government, where applicable.
