European Alternatives is recruiting a
Senior Project Manager
to join its dynamic and creative transnational team in Berlin.
The Senior Project Manager will assume an important role reporting directly to the Executive Director, managing one large-scale, EU-funded project. Transeuropa Caravans is an pan-European project reaching out to and connecting Europeans who fight for a radically democratic and progressive Europe, relating to European citizenship rights and the upcoming European Parliament elections.
The Senior Project Manager will work with activists, academics, educators, artists and legal specialists in leading an exciting and innovative project which will have both a grassroots impact and a strong interest to decision makers in Brussels. The project involves the coordination of different road-trips around 15 European countries ahead of the European Parliament elections. Potentially, the Senior Project Manager also oversees and contributes to other smaller projects of the organization.
The position is to be filled in January 2019 or the soonest possible date for a 1 year-contract with potential renewal. The position is considered on a 30 hours contract, with some flexibility for more or less hours, depending on the candidate. Qualifications
Required
- Solid understanding of project administration and reporting both from a financial and activity point of view, with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in managing European-funded projects with a significant budget.
- University level degree or qualification (preferably with a focus on EU affairs, EU citizenship, law, social sciences, politics, arts)
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people with diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge in EU Affairs, EU Citizenship rights and a strong interest in the European election campaign.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to set up processes, systems, and workflows and ensure adherence and follow-up.
- Perfect written and spoken English and knowledge of a second European language (ideally German) highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel abroad (within Europe)
- Attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines and under time pressure.
- Strong commitment to EA’s values
Desirable
- Experience of management of staff/interns
- Experience of working in multi-language, multi-cultural environment
- Knowledgeable about using social media and emerging digital tools for coordinating projects
- Experience in public speaking, running trainings or chairing meetings
- Experience in writing funding applications
- Experience working for a non-profit organization and in a European context
- Willingness to experiment, think creatively and engage in the life of the organisation
