We are seeking a

Human Resources Labour Relations & Project Management Officer (f/d/m)

to oversee the day-to-day management of the relationship between Open Society and its employee representatives in Berlin. This role will in addition be responsible for designing and executing HR projects in collaboration with key stakeholders.

The Open Society Foundations (OSF) work to build vibrant and inclusive democracies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people. We are active in more than 120 countries, making us the world’s largest private funder of independent groups working for justice, democratic governance, and human rights.

The Human Resources (HR) team, comprised of 60+ members, sits in our Berlin, London, New York and Washington D.C. offices but supports OSF staff across the global network of foundations, in over 40 countries. The team is comprised of generalists spanning the North America, Latin America, Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, Africa, South West Asia, and Asia Pacific regions, as well as HR specialists comprised of Talent Development, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Compensation & Benefits, Diversity and Inclusion, and Recruitment.

As the Human Resources Labour Relations & Project Management Officer at Open Society, you will:

  • Lead and support independently HR projects under co-determination rights such as health management or software implementation;
  • Facilitate negotiations of entity agreements in alignment with the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of HR;
  • Design information and communications for and with employee representatives according to the strategy;
  • Provide analysis, evaluation and implementation of collective issues and any topics in connection with HR projects;
  • Prepare, participate and monitor regular appointments with committees of employee representatives as well as independent reporting and coordination of the action items and tasks;
  • Draft works council agreements and policies in German and English;
  • Maintain and co-develop databases and information formats for employee representatives;
  • Support hands-on HR management tasks such as issuing contracts and use HR systems in the daily business.

What we are looking for:

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Deep knowledge and experience in the participation and special rights of employee representatives from the Works Constitution Act;
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of employment law;
  • Excellent command in German and English, both written and verbally;
  • Proven track record of project management skills, with the ability to develop plans and meet deliverables on multiple concurrent projects;
  • Experience in building health management is a plus;
  • Excellent usage of Excel and power point;
  • Commitment to the Open Society Foundation’s values of diversity and inclusion;
