Job description
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is driving much-needed job creation in Iraq. But tech-savvy young men and women are still facing hurdles in finding employment in the field of ICT or in building their own start-up and university curricula are not yet sufficiently reflecting the needs of the tech industry. To create job perspectives in the field of ICT, GIZ is setting up innovation hubs equipped with training facilities, coworking spaces and makerspaces in various locations across the country. These hubs provide coding bootcamps (app/web development, UX/UI, Java, AI, blockchain, gaming) and demand-driven trainings in digital skills (digital production, robotics) as well as entrepreneurship courses. These measures are complemented by the support of structures and programs in the field of early stage start-up finance.
Your tasks
- Technical advice in the field of digital skills and technology trainings
- Development and technical management of measures to promote ICT skills and entrepreneurship
- Planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities
- Coordination and cooperation with actors of the innovation ecosystem
- Initiation and implementation of strategic partnerships with private sector entities
- Support in reporting to the commissioning ministry
Your profile
- University degree in informatics, economics, engineering, communications, social sciences or comparable studies
- Professional experience in digital skills and/or tech start-up promotion
- Working experience in the development cooperation and/or in developing countries
- Working experience with GIZ and/or regional experience in the Middle East and North Africa is an advantage
- Enjoyment of working in intercultural teams, diplomatic skills as well as a positive attitude towards diversity
- Fluent in English, knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
