Finance Officer (f/m/d)

Details: 

  • Location: Germany  

  • Salary: €28-33k per annum pro rata – depending on experience 

  • Contract Type:  1-year fixed term (full time 35 hours per week) – with possibility of extension 

  • Closing Date: 24/09/2021

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (“The Resource Centre”), an international non-profit organization tracking the human rights impacts of over 10,000 companies worldwide, is seeking a Finance Officer to provide finance and grant management activities in relation to the EU Turkey.

The Organisation 

The Resource Centre works with partners to put human rights at the core of companies’ business models; to empower communities and workers to secure their rights and gain accountability for abuse; and to encourage governments to create the right regulation and incentives to facilitate these outcomes. We are a global organisation committed to cooperation with diverse actors in our movement. We have more than 80 members of our global team based around the world who work with a wide network of human rights advocates. They are mix of employees, and short- and long-term consultants in many countries, but treated with equity and parity and supported with an effective performance management system. We are currently officially registered in five countries: UK, Germany, USA, Australia, and Colombia. 

With our global network of allies, our primary global approaches to deliver this vision are: 

  • Strengthen organisations and communities to achieve greater equality of power in negotiations, with business and government, to advance their human rights. Use the evidence and data we generate to advocate and influence decision-makers including business, investors and governments 

  • Strengthen corporate accountability, due diligence and effective remedy for abuse; 

  • Build transparency of the advances, challenges and abuse of human rights in business. 

Applicants must have: 

  • Excellent English and German, conversational Turkish language skills  

  • The right to work in Germany 

  • 3-5 years’ work in finance management of projects funded by bilateral funders  

Job purpose: 
To provide finance and grant management activities in relation to the EU Turkey project 

Specific activities include: 

  • Supervise small grants to non-profit organizations in Turkey, and oversee their financial and narrative reporting requirements  

  • Prepare all financial reporting required by the EU Turkey project 

  • Manage all EU audit activity in relation to the Grant 

  • Provide input to the monthly management accounts, quarterly Finance and Administration Committee reports and bi-annual Board reports processes 

  • Ensure that all filing is done accurately and on a regular basis 

  • Receive, record, and process all purchase invoices 

  • Verify calculations and input codes into the accounts system in an accurate manner 

  • Receive and process all expense claim forms and requests for payments 

  • Process bank, credit card and petty cash transactions  

  • Post monthly journals 

  • Update monthly project tracker 

  • Provide input to the annual statutory audit process 

  • Provide input to the annual organizational budgeting process 

  • Provide assistance in relation to funding applications and reports to donors 

  • Provide assistance in relation to ad-hoc finance duties as and when required 

Knowledge and Experience 
You will need to have had: 

  • Experience of working within an Accounts office within a financial capacity 

  • Experience in reporting to donors and funders (required) bilateral entities (desirable)  

  • Knowledge and experience of using SAGE LINE 50 (desirable) 

Qualifications and Technical Skills 
You will also need to: 

  • Have excellent IT skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly highly competent in the use of Excel including pivot tables, look up functions and formulae are essential 

  • Have excellent data analytical skills 

  • Part qualified AAT (or other accounting qualification)
