About Liberties
Liberties (www.liberties.eu) was established in 2017 as an EU-level advocacy organisation with the mission and vision to support the protection of EU core values as formulated in Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union. We are working with an ever-expanding networkof human rights organisations in 18 EU Member States with 19 civil society organisations in our network at the present. We are building up the network with the aim to become the strongest network of its kind, promoting respect for fundamental rights, democracy and rule of law decision-making processes at both the EU and national level. Liberties functions on the principle of added value to the members and to the public. We complement the activities of the members, drawing upon their specific expertise and joining forces in areas better dealt with together. Our core team operates with a service-provider attitude towards the NGOs in the network: through trainings and workshops for, through supporting national and EU level initiatives, we have the infrastructure and know-how to progressively build public support for democracy, rule of law, and human rights as well as the institutions that protect them.
