Kiron Open Higher Education (gGmbH) is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 with a mission to remove the barriers refugees face in accessing higher education. Through an innovative model of blended learning, Kiron offers tailor-made curricula of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) through renowned educational platforms like coursera and edx so that refugees can start studying, regardless of their asylum status. Courses are mostly provided in English, completely free of charge for the students and all accessible via our learning platform Kiron Campus.
Through strong partnerships with accredited universities worldwide, students have the opportunity to finish their program with a regular bachelor’s degree. Today, a team of 40 employees receives further support from about 400 volunteers worldwide and a competence pool consisting of experts from relevant fields, such as professors, psychologists and business specialists. Your opportunities and responsibilities at Kiron:
- Coordination of all activities and measures regarding Kiron’s emPower Programme together with our partners: Mentoring, Buddy, Career Services.
- Quality assurance of the programme according to scientific standards.
- Coordination of the matching process between volunteers and Kiron students.
- Selection and monitoring of students who are using the emPower services.
- Development of information and training opportunities for buddies, mentors and counsellors.
- Conduct of development and evaluation surveys to improve the quality of course guidance for Kiron students.
Your set of skills:
- You hold a master’s degree in the field of social sciences, educational sciences, psychology or other relevant studies.
- You possess profound knowledge of support programmes in Higher Education or in non-academic, pedagogic fields of action with at least one year of work experience.
- You are experienced in managing (volunteer) teams.
- You are familiar with an academic working environment.
- You are a self-starter, adaptive & resilient and have an entrepreneurial mind-set.
- You are fluent in English and German and are proficient with the Microsoft Office Package and Google Apps
- You share the vision of free education worldwide for refugees
