We are looking for a co-worker in the position of the
Facility Manager (f/m)
Employer: Impact Hub Berlin
Work Type: Part time (2 days/ week)
Location: Friedrichstrasse 246, 10969 Berlin
Duration: 6 months (with a possibility of extension)
Starting date: 9th May 2016
Role
As our Facility Manager, you will be in charge of designing and delivering the highest quality space and facility experience to our growing, vibrant community and our venue-hire clients. You will join our diverse team, community members and partner organizations to inspire, connect, and enable them to develop their best work every step of the way.
Responsibilities of the Facility Manager
We are looking for a person that will take responsibility to make our great space the best it in can be in terms of functionality and beauty (while still keeping the budget in mind).
You love to keep things in order and are not afraid to get your hands dirty resetting the space or taking out trash. At the same time you have a feeling for design and the message we want to get across.
1. Space management
Due to the various different kinds of activities like events, space bookings, different work set ups, our space needs continuous care.
Aim: Make members comfortable in the space and make sure everything is working smoothly
Tasks include:
- Keep it orderly
- Re-set space before/after events
- Be in charge of the technology we have
- First response point to problems like printer/wlan, electricity, space set up, signage
2. Space maintenance
The high frequency usage of our space makes it necessary to have a constant eye out for things that might need maintenance (or fixing)
Aim: Constantly look out for our space and its equipment and keep it in best shape.
Tasks include:
- Be alert to details (things that break and need repairing)
- Smaller things that need to be purchased
3. Space improvement
As a team and with our community, we constantly try to evaluate if improvements are needed in the space. You bring our attention to those things and lead the common process to decide if improvements are needed. Upon decision, you execute yourself or hire the respective contractor in and oversee work. Aim: Identify new potentials how to improve the space and execute on them
Tasks include:
- Include team community to identify needs and potentials for improvement
- Get offers and coordinate execution by contractors
- Take over ongoing projects
- Take initiative and look at delighting all our stakeholders
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Previous knowledge and experience in co-¬working spaces, venues, events.
- Exceptional organizational skills to maintain, manage and upgrade our space.
- Ability to come up with new ideas to improve space experience, and the skills to execute those ideas (getting your hands dirty)
- Well-rounded communicator to build meaningful relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent communication skills in English and in German
- Team player and comfortable in an intercultural environment
- Ability to see the big picture while also paying attention to the details
Requirements
- Applicants must have a valid EU working permit
- Proficiency in both German and in English is a big plus
- There will be in-person interviews in the last 2 weeks of April
