Development Assistant (Employment & Skills)
Blackpool, Salary £15,202 - £16,451 pa
Our personal development programmes help change the lives of young people. We’re looking for a Development Assistant who can help us deliver our expanding range of activities.

Applicants must be confident in their own abilities and able to relate to young people, yet still be able to set boundaries in a clear and non-judgemental way. They’ll also need proven experience in delivering activities.
Primary Purpose of Position
- To deliver and assess programmes within the Employment & Skills Dept.
- Assist to recruit participants and volunteers, organise community projects and individual work placements.
- To provide leadership and guidance on an individual and team basis for the programme participants.
- To work flexible hours which may include evenings and weekends as and when required dependant on the needs of the department.
Key Tasks
- Assist to set programme learning objectives to meet both team and individual needs. Deliver and assess against qualification standards.
- Liaise with community organisations, agencies and partners to plan, prepare and supervise appropriate community based projects and individual work placements. Assist to prepare, deliver and assess against qualification standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the participants, taking responsibility for their health, safety and welfare including appropriate disciplinary procedure.
- Assist to prepare regular reports on the programme to line manager.
- Assist to organise and participate in residential when required..
- To assist with raising funds for specific projects in accordance with the action plan.
- To ensure that all Health and Safety Procedures/Risk Assessment systems are effective
- Other such duties as necessary for the maintenance and development of Groundwork Employment & Skills Programmes.

Groundwork CLM is seeking a self motivated, dynamic individual to lead its activities. The suitable person will be well organised, assertive, positive and calm under pressure. They will be able to lead from the front, relish a challenge with an eye for opportunity to expand the programme’s boundaries
Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Qualifications Training that demonstrate personal development within this area of work

- Youth & Community qualification
- Relevant degree
- (Level 3 Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
- John Muir Award training
- MIDAS (Minibus qualification)
- Award in Education & Training (formally PTTLS)
Experience
Essential
- Experience of assessing qualification

- Experience of planning, delivering and assessing programmes of activity
- Proven experience of leadership, preferably leading young people and / or volunteers
- Experience of marketing and promotion
- Proven IT skills proficiency
