GPPi Seeks
Research Associate Focused on Data and Technology Politics
The successful candidate will contribute to our dialogue, research and consulting activities in that issue area. The main responsibility of the research associate will be the organization of the Transatlantic Digital Debates, a fellowship program that brings together young professionals from Germany and the US to discuss key challenges at the intersection of technology and policymaking. The successful applicant will work on all aspects of the project, which includes the selection of participants, organization and facilitation of two dialogue sessions in Germany and the US, working with the fellows to produce outputs (e.g. blog posts, op-eds, podcasts), building the alumni network, and grant management. Through the program, the research associate will have the opportunity to engage with outstanding young professionals, interact with leading experts in the field, and contribute to the transatlantic debate on digital policy.
In addition to managing the Transatlantic Digital Debates, the research associate will contribute to GPPi’s research and consulting activities on data and technology politics. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a track record of working on topics at the intersection of technology and democracy, on international (cyber) security policy, or on technology and regulation.

- A strong interest in fostering transatlantic dialogue and working closely with young professionals from Germany and the US to this end;
- Knowledge of and/or experience with German/EU and US technology policymaking;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (experience with facilitation methods for groups will be considered a plus);
- The ambition and willingness to publish (e.g. op-eds, journal articles, policy papers, or blog posts);
- Extreme attention to detail and excellent time management skills;
- The ability to work independently in a team context;
- Willingness to take up residence in Berlin;
- Excellent English-language skills in both writing and speaking (command of German is an asset).
What we offer:
- A dynamic work environment in the center of Germany’s capital;
- An international team working in a strong global network;
- An attractive platform for self-driven professional development in the think tank world;
