The Mozilla Foundation is looking for a
European Campaigner
The European Campaigner will work with the Mozilla Advocacy and Policy teams in scaling up our advocacy work on Internet health in Europe. In particular, this role will drive Mozilla’s efforts in launching a new project aimed at improving data practices by technology platforms and tools as a means to curb disinformation and intrusions in consumer privacy.
The primary responsibility of this role is to identify and roll out campaigns to curb disinformation and protect data privacy in Europe. Secondly, you will be responsible for helping drive message testing to ensure that our work is effective.
Responsibilities
The key areas of responsibility include the following:
- Developing and executing campaigns developed in coordination with the Advocacy and Policy teams.
- Innovating new ways to garner grassroots attention and action in order to help win campaigns and build a dynamic grassroots movement.
- Building state-of-the-art messaging that can capture the nuance of policy positions while resonating with a larger audience.
- Regularly attending various community and partner organization events in order to strengthen existing relationships and build new strategic relationships.
- Liaising with our technology and design teams to ensure that we are able to mobilize online communities using best practices.
- Bringing together and sharing campaign takeaways with partner groups and internal partners.
- Drafting email alerts and campaign materials with the highest standards of clear writing, evidence, sources, and accuracy.
- Building collaborative relationships within Mozilla and across other programs funded under the same initiative.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience working in the non-profit sector; experience working with Internet rights or consumer rights organizations preferred
- Experience in crafting and executing public campaigns; experience with EU wide campaigning a plus.
- Genuine interest in topics and alignment with Mozilla’s Mission and Manifesto
- Strong analytical, oral, written and social communications skills in English; proficiency in other European languages is an advantage, particularly French or German
- Experience crafting and facilitating effective meetings among participants with different perspectives and needs
- Ability to conduct research and analysis on a range of issues, and effectively articulate how these relate to Internet health policies, initiatives and procedures to non-expert audiences
- Decisive and diplomatic, with strong and proven ability to lead multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a team
- Ability to effectively handle workload and complete projects in a timely fashion
