Digital Communications Officer

Role Summary
The Digital Team manages the RSA website, social media accounts and other digital assets. We're a small but growing team working closely with colleagues across the organisation, but principally facilitating, creating and promoting online content for the RSA Action and Research Centre (ARC) and Fellowship teams.
The purpose of the Digital Communications Officer role is to
- Plan and manage day-to-day content production for the RSA website and social media channels, liaising closely with the Head of Media and Communications, ARC and Fellowship teams.
- Create engaging digital campaigns for key RSA outputs, which include new reports, articles, podcasts and videos.
- Measure and report the performance of digital content using analytics tools.
You will have strong experience of managing and creating digital content on websites and social media platforms, and an interest in the work of the RSA.
The Digital Communications Officer relishes the opportunity to discover new ideas on a range of topics affecting social change from the latest developments in A.I. to the impact of Brexit on UK food and farming. External Affairs Directorate
Led by the Director of External Affairs, the External Affairs Directorate comprises 23 staff covering: Media, Marketing, Digital, Radio, Public Events, Archive and Front of House and Facilities.
Reporting to the Head of Digital, the team also comprises of another Digital Communications Officer and a Digital Assistant.
Main Responsibilities
- Produce engaging, thoughtful online content and resources for the RSA website and social media that adheres to corporate visual and editorial guidelines.
- Liaise with the Head of Media and other Digital Communications Officer to help manage the digital content and editorial calendar, working with colleagues across the organisation to identify gaps and schedule content accordingly.
- Work closely with Head of Marketing and broader External Affairs directorate in coordinating digital campaigns for key RSA outputs, which include reports, articles, podcasts and videos.
- Monitor impact of RSA website and social media content using analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) and help develop and maintain mechanisms for sharing insights with key individuals and teams across the organisation.
- Provide support for staff bloggers to ensure content is optimised for online consumption (e.g ensuring appropriate titles, content and formatting).
- Liaise with external digital agency as required on new projects to support new website developments and campaigns.
- Work with the team to keep landing pages fresh and up to date, managing content via
- Train new staff in usage of digital platforms as appropriate and provide administrative support in making changes to the website as required.
- Source images for promotional content, using Getty Images and create eye-catching digital assets for social media, using Photoshop and equivalent systems.
Selection Criteria
- Strong experience managing and creating content for social media platforms, including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- A high level of familiarity with Content Management Systems, such as Episerver (or similar).
- Skilled in online copywriting and publishing.
- Good understanding of digital communications, content strategy, accessibility standards, UX and SEO.
- Strong eye for impactful images and good working knowledge of image-editing software, such as Photoshop.
- Strong degree of familiarity with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics.
- Plenty of drive and enthusiasm; articulate, reliable, organised, quick to learn new systems, calm under pressure and detail-oriented.
- Strong interest in current digital landscape and latest digital trends.
- Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Supportive of the mission of the RSA.
