Salary: €35,000 – 40,000 per annum dependent upon experience.

About the role

The Environmental Justice Foundation is an international human rights and environment charity.
This role is for you if you are a talented digital campaigner with strong digital and copywriting skills and are passionate about the power of social media to protect people and planet.
The role is an exciting opportunity for someone with energy to develop EJF’s digital campaigns and build our supporter community in Germany. As a member of a small and dynamic team, you will be able to write with clarity and flair to convey our stories and share our successes to inspire public support and generate impact.
This role involves identifying new opportunities to generate income from individual donors including outreach to universities and youth groups to support our work - both in terms of public visibility and generating income. You will be responsible for ensuring that German funders (private or governmental) can access the right information, supporting EJF to secure new funding streams.
You will manage and develop the German webpages, managing brand consistency but prominently showing issues of particular relevance to German visitors.
The role will have a focus on the digital outreach that motivates people to actively support our work through campaigning, and the individual giving that provides essential support for EJF’s campaigns.

About the successful candidate

You will have proven track record in, and passion for, digital communications and storytelling to mobilize diverse audiences – including the German public, businesses and public policy-makers – into taking action. You’ll have a clear understanding of what motivates people to take action and donate, using this insight to identify the best way to deliver EJF’s campaign goals using social media, email and new digital tools.

You will understand the latest digital trends and identify new opportunities and help ensure best practice for online campaigning and fundraising. You will have experience working on a variety of digital channels and possess strong technical expertise on a variety of web and social media platforms, using analytics to understand your audience and build campaign strategies.

You will have proven experience of writing copy for digital platforms, creating content, taking decisions, making sound judgements and publishing without supervision. You will be working within a small team, but you need to make the digital communications a success, liaising with colleagues about what is newsworthy. You will need to craft digital strategies for projects, delivering campaign wins and bringing new supporters onboard. You will work towards specific agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You’ll report regularly, in detail, to your manager, the directors and management team.

Your technical skills will include: Significant experience of working with CMS; proficiency in Google Analytics and a strong understanding of SEO techniques, user experience and web accessibility, and experience using creative suites (Adobe).

You will have proven ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines and know how to prioritize your workload; you will have great attention to detail and factual accuracy.

You speak and write English and German with complete fluency and you enjoy communicating with colleagues, the public and other audiences to inspire support for the environment and human rights. English is the international operating language of the organisation. Proficiency in French, Spanish or other language of a key EU Member State would be desirable.

In addition:

  • You are comfortable taking direction and working in a team, with equal ability to work independently with minimal direction, taking initiative and responsibility.
  • You take pride in delivering agreed outcomes on time and on budget, at times managing multiple tight deadlines and knowing how to prioritize your workload.
  • You appreciate the constraints of working in a smaller non-profit, and how to leverage cost-efficient outcomes where creativity, dynamism and flexibility rather than big budgets are the key to success.
  • You know that change is not easily won, but worth winning.

Benefits:

  • Generous annual leave allowance, increasing each year.
  • Option to work from home one day per week after a probationary period.
  • Flexible working hours for parents of children up to 16 years old.
  • Cycle to work scheme.

Please send your CV and cover letter (in English ONLY) explaining why you are the right person for this job to: recruitment@ejfoundation.org

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Closing date:12 March 2019.
