We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join CDP Europe team. As Senior Development Manager Europe, you will focus on identifying opportunities for government funding and working with colleagues to develop winning proposals.
While this role focuses on securing funding from governments, you will also play a key role in tracking, identifying and bringing significant European Trust & Foundation to the attention of the Global Development Team, working closely with them to prepare strategic funding bids as needed and to nurture key relationships.

The role includes:
- Co-create the global government funding strategy in cooperation with the Global Development team and lead the operationalisation of the strategy for CDP Europe working closely with Stakeholder Directors in Europe;
- Build excellent relationships within bilateral and multilateral organizations in Europe, notably the European Commission, other EU bodies, national governments and agencies to access funding opportunities;
- Track government and European foundation funding opportunities, working with the Senior Development Manager – Trusts & Foundations to prepare proposals as needed and maximise potential from European foundations;
- Research, develop and write high quality funding proposals including narrative budgets and log-frames, engaging internal stakeholders where needed, and submit them to donors;
- Develop an excellent knowledge of CDP’s work, liaise with colleagues to prepare and present high-quality information such as tailored presentations and proposals for the donor. This includes working closely with colleagues in Europe, other members of the Global Development Team and our country offices;
- Develop and implement creative solicitation plans to maximise donor engagement and income;
- Implement the highest standards of donor stewardship to manage prospective and existing donors effectively;
- Line or dotted line management of public and philanthropic grant project managers and European Grant Compliance Manager and support seamless integration of their project work in the European operations and in the work of the Global Development Team;
- Lead on M&E deployment and evolution at CDP Europe, in close cooperation with the Global Development Team.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven success of securing institutional (government) funding at six and seven figure levels;
- Proven ability to build and manage government donor income streams, maximising the value of existing and prospective supporters;
- Proven track record of relationship building with governments and multi-laterals to secure grants at six figure level;
- Ability to understand diverse government donor strategies and deliver a bespoke approach to meet these;
- Experience of securing and managing Trust & Foundation funding of five and six figure grants (desirable);
- Demonstrable skill in adapting written and verbal communications for an institutional funding audience (desirable);
- Excellent face-to-face, interpersonal, negotiating and persuasive skills (desirable).
- Confidence in working with senior stakeholders internally and externally, using tact and diplomacy;
- Excellent numeracy and attention to detail, ability to analyse and prepare budgets, in close cooperation with the European Grants Compliance Manager and the Finance team;
- Experience of managing the complexities of restricted income projects;
- Organised and methodical approach to plan and deliver against a varied workload, managing competing priorities under your own initiative and to strict deadlines.

The successful candidate will work five days per week and must be able to work legally in EU. This full-time role is based at our office in Berlin/Brussels/Geneva and will work closely with the Global Development team and the Europe team and report to the Director Policy Engagement.
