As a communications specialist you’ll create, publish and promote our content. You’ll be our “Journalist in residence”; the go-to person when copy is needed to shape our message and reach our goals.

About the role

Your Responsibilities:
  • Help colleagues from various teams communicate their ideas effectively - you will support editorial creation at every level, from ghostwriting to subbing to proof-reading
  • Coordinate and write content for our internal and external newsletters
  • Help put together engaging and informative presentation, articles and videos
  • Focus on sharing content far and wide – on social media, through relevant communities, industry partnerships, etc.
  • Coordinate the editorial publishing plan for social media and for our blog
  • In addition to the day to day of writing and editing, here are some examples of projects you might work on:
  • Support the building and execution of marketing and promotional campaigns for our flagship product, Superdesk
  • Work on the conceptualisation and production of our press materials
  • Monitor and analyse various content performance metrics and recommend methods for improving them
  • You’ll report to the Head of Communications and work closely with all other departments within the organisation.

What skills do I need?

  • The key traits for this role are a passion for writing, excellent editing skills and an interest in how software is changing the world of journalism.
  • The standard language of our communications is English. We need a native English speaker, or someone who can pass for one, for this position.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a writing/editing role and preferably a degree in journalism/communications/multimedia
  • Experience using social media, including metric analysis
  • Experience, or at least a demonstrable interest, in software and/or news business
  • A good understanding of Google Docs, Wiki, and basic image editing software
  • Comfortable working as part of a small team and managing your time efficiently

While it’s not a deal breaker, it would be a bonus if you had:

  • Experience in email marketing copywriting
  • An understanding of open source software development
  • A general understanding of PR strategies and experience writing press releases
  • Experience maintaining and updating website copy
